Postman plans to deliver

Postman Kevin McIntyre insists he will deliver another win in his rematch with Kevin Anderson on Friday night, live on Sky Sports.

The two Scots will go toe-to-toe for a second time at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow after McIntyre won their first fight last November.

That convincing points success for the 29-year-old meant he took the British welterweight title from his compatriot.

With the bout being shown live on Sky Sports, it also meant the man from Paisley became a local celebrity, something he has enjoyed to such an extent that he does not want it to end.

Recognition

"I've become a wee bit better known since becoming champion because a lot of people have Sky television these days," he said.

"I thrive on the recognition to be honest. I've had a wee taste of it and I just want more, I don't want it to end.

"But I am still the same guy. I was back at my job the week after the last fight.

"Fortunately it was my long weekend off so I got a couple of days off before I went back on the following Tuesday."

While McIntyre has been enjoying the limelight, rival Anderson has been locked away with trainer Bob Shannon at his training camp in Manchester.

The former champion from Fife insists he is hungry to win back the belt and avenge just the second defeat of his 22-fight professional career.

Training hard

"This is serious. I've had a hunger that I've not had for a long time," he said. "I've been down six weeks in Manchester training hard and everything is going to plan.

"I have recovered from losing my belt. Deep down, I know it was a bad, bad Kevin Anderson on the night and I won't be as bad as that on Friday.

"Kevin McIntyre will need to do a lot better this time. I'm going into the fight with no title and if I come away with no title then I'm going to be unstuck.

"But I've been away for a long time and I'm ready to take my belt back."
